Pat Freeman nets 27 points as Rebel cagers shut down Crimson

Senior captain Pat Freeman scored 27 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Champlin Park boys basketball team to a 56-51 win over host Maple Grove Thursday, Jan. 11.

Keith Smith added 16 points and Zerrick Fuller had nine points to lead Champlin Park to its first Northwest Suburban Conference win after three losses.

The Crimson entered the game as conference co-leaders and were averaging close to 70 points per game. But the Rebel defense rose to the challenge and held MG to just 51 points.

The Rebels, 2-8 overall, were at Coon Rapids Tuesday, Jan. 16. They next host Blaine Thursday, Jan. 18, and travel to Osseo Tuesday, Jan. 23.
