Pirates Beat Rebels at Park Center
By Sam Thurn - January 9th, 2007
Park Center High School was the sight of Tuesday night's game, which pitted
the Champlin Park Rebels against the Park Center Pirates in this cross-town
rivalry. This seemed to be the perfect opportunity to try to turn around the
Rebels season with a win, but it turned into the same story as the rest of
the season. The Rebels have not been able to pull off victories against
decent teams. They lost on Tuesday 66-52 in Park Center. The only team that
the Boy's team has defeated is Big Lake in the second game of the season.
The saddest part is that it has gotten worse over the last couple games. The
last three games, the rebels have been outscored by an average of fifteen
points.
There record is now 1-8, and it seems that the games fall into the same
pattern. One person scores very well, another pretty well, another decent,
and the rest barely score at all. On Tuesday, it was Keith Smith (12) who
did great with 21 points, and Calvin Nolte (11) contributed 13 to the cause.
Then Zerrich Fuller (10) had a decent game with 9 points and the
rest of the team didn't do much scoring. The next chance for Champlin Park
to break their six game losing streak will be on Thursday at Maple Grove. It
is becoming desperate for the Rebels to start winning, and it has now become
a "do or die" situation.
